Program Notes:Composers from 5 countries have written new works for player piano. Some of the composers include Australians Chris Dench and Robert Dahm, the UK's Thomas Ades, Canadians Veronika Krausas, Julian Revie and Gayle Young; German/Canadian Marc Sabat, Argentine Osvaldo Budon, and Americans Larry Polansky, Lou Bunk, Daniel Corral, Jeffrey Holmes, Marc Lowenstein, and Sean Heim. Interspersed between pieces will be film clips and blue-grass fiddle music by the Dr. Ed Glass ensemble.
The works will be performed at the Alfred Newman Concert Hall at the University of Southern California in conjunction with a CD release of these pieces.
This concert is part of the Faculty masters Series through the Thornton School of Music at USC, organized by faculty composer Veronika Krausas. The program and CD will also feature a work for player piano by American composer James Tenney (1934-2006), to whom the concert is dedicated.
